Best Lip Balms

Best Lip Balms

This post contains affiliated links

Lip balms are awesome. Not only do they work as chapsticks, but some actually offer a hint of color and totally moisturize your lips in a pretty tube. I have tried just about every lip balm out there and truly just love them! Next to lipgloss they are my go to products for my lips. Especially with this winter where my lips have been hit hard to the point of actually cracking and peeling which has NEVER happened to me before. And no matter how much lip balm I applied it wasn't able to stop the dryness. It did however help to alleviate the pain and the recovery time.

So I decide to narrow done the best lips balms that I have tried so far that have given me good proven results and that I love using the most.  They range from fairly inexpensive to just plain out there in price.  But hey when it comes to the wellness and health of your lips, can you really put a price tag on those smoochers of yours?!

Nivea Lip Butter - $2.41US - $3.20 US

I bought these on a whim when my current lip balm ran out.  I didn't know what to expect as they looked so delicious in their tins but the taste was a concern for me.  However after one try I was in love.  They go on very creamy on the lips, not tacky or sticky at all and they don't travel all over the place or bleed.  I have only tried the raspberry Rose Kiss and the Vanilla & Macadamia Kiss flavors and just love them.  They are fairly inexpensive, can be bought at just about any drugstore or ordered online from Amazon.  I keep one in my purse and makeup draw at all times.

I just love this product and not only because of its texture and smoothness on the lips, but because it actually contains SPF 30 which is seriously lacking in many lip products now-a-days.  When I step outside, I ALWAYS wear sunscreen SPF 60 UVA/UVB protection on my face.  No matter the weather, in daylight you won't catch me without sunscreen on.  With that same thought in mind, I also protect my lips.  Many people don't understand that you can still get lip cancer when exposed to sunlight.  This lip balm comes in two flavors but I would only recommend the Acai one because the other one contains mint which is a serious irritant to lips.  So if you are serious about protection your lips, then this lip balm is for you.

Dior Creme de Rose Smoothing Plumping Lip Balm - $29.00 CDN

Nothing says luxury like Dior. The first time I heard of this product was from Youtube were all the beauty vloggers were raving about it. So I decided to jump on Sephora online and buy it. However when I realized that it cost shy of $30, I turned the computer off and went to bed. However I had this nagging feeling that I really needed to try this. So after a month of having this sitting in my checkout cart on Sephora I decided to buy it. When it arrived three days later, I used it right away. I first noticed it had a waxy film at the top that you had to breakaway in order to get to the creamy part of the balm. But once you did, it was amazing on the lips. It was so soft and creamy. Was not tacky or sticky at all and had a lovely slight smell to it. I really like this balm, due to how it does hydrate the lips. However I don't use it often because of the price tag. So while yes it is crazy expensive for a simple balm, nonetheless it offers great moisturize to the lips.

When Bite Beauty hit Sephora, the first thing I heard about them was their Agave Lip Mask.  I was taken with the fact that this lip balm not only worked as a lip balm but also as a lip mask to help heal cracked dried lips.  I read many reviews on this product and realized that you generally use it at nights right before bed to allow the product to work its magic.  I noticed that when applied at nights, it lasted all throughout my sleep and never transferred, bled or stained my pillows.  I bought this in the color champagne the same day it was released in Sephora.  It gives you the slightest tint to your lips without coloring them fully.  It is also made of all natural ingredients which are safe to ingest especially for someone like me who is currently six months pregnant.  I love using this lip mask at night and the great results it gives me!

Sephora Collection Color Reveal Lip Balm - $16.00

I found this lip balm all by accident. It was on sale at Sephora during the holiday season and I became curious to try it out.  It stated that when applied to your lips, it gives you a slight tint to your lips according to your own lip color.  I saw some before and after pictures, so I decided to try it.  I noticed that once applied to your lips within seconds it gave me a nice pinkish tints to my lips that looked natural.  I also noticed that it really moisturized my lips and left the nicest feeling and lovely sheen.  It last for a good two to three hours on my lips before wearing off.  However the color lasted all the way until I brushed my teeth again at night.  Really worth trying if you are looking to add some color to your lips without using lipstick or lipgloss.

I first got this product with one of my Julep Maven boxes last year.  I loved the fact that it came with a cool metal tip applicator which helped to smooth it on your lips with ease.  This lip balm also has a lovely smell of Shea Butter to it which I love.  I have this on my bathroom counter and wear it in the mornings right after washing my face.   It helps to keep them moisturized while I am getting ready for the day and applying my makeup.  It last for a while on my lips and really love the cooling sensation I get every time I use it!  If you are a Julep Maven member you can buy it for $19.20 US.

The first time I tried this lip treatment was when I received it in a generous sample size.  I have used Fresh lip treatments before and just loved on some how it contains SPF in their formula.  I love keeping this in my purse because its small and has a twist top which keeps it from coming off and getting messed up.  It has no real smell to it and really works great on my dry lips during the winter season.

So there you have it, my favorite lip balms to help beat this cold winter and relief dry chapped lips to reveal beautiful moisturized kissable lips! Do you have any favorites I should try?

Keep Smiling

Miracalis Anti-Aging Cream Review

Miracalis Anti-Aging Cream - $35.95 US

I received this product as part of an advertorial.

I have read before that even if you have good skin, it’s wise to start using an anti-aging cream in your 30’s.  I mean you cant be young forever right!  And all skin needs a little help as we age.  However with that being said, I have to admit I don’t use any moisturizer’s or face creams as I should because I have not found one or shall I say, any that I really liked.  I have a collection in my bathroom of face creams that possible compete with your local Sephora and yet, I use them rarely…. that is until I tried Miracalis Anti-Aging Cream.  When I was told I was going to be able to try this product out by Miracalis I was thrilled!

This cream comes in a glass pot that is light weight and cute looking.   The cream it self is very soft and light.   I found that using a pea size amount was enough to get my whole face and neck area.  It applied on very silky and glided on well without any harsh rubbing to blend it in.  I used this cream twice a day after my daily skincare routine.  I used it in the mornings and at nights before bedtime.  It went on smooth and dried quickly with no residue left behind, greasy look or feel.

It’s also odorless which I love!!!  Face cream should never have fragrance as that is a potential irritant to the skin.   Since I have very delicate skin that is set off by many products, this truly was a winner for me.  It never irritated my skin or dried it out.  This cream left my skin feeling and looking firmer and softer after almost just 3 weeks of constant use.

I can apply my makeup almost instantly after using this cream as it absorbed quickly into my skin.  This also works great at night right before bedtime.  As I am ready to hit the pillow after my night time skincare routine, its absorbed nicely and quickly with no nasty residue!

I have found that I use this product more than any other face creams I have purchased in the past leaving me very satisfied.  I plan to continue using this cream due to its great benefits and the fact that my face looks and feels great so that's a bonus as well!

Stay pretty & forever young!

Jenny!

EnvyDerm Eyelash Enhancement and Conditioning Liquid Eyeliner

EnvyDerm Eyelash Enhancement & Conditioning Liquid Eyeliner - $29.00 US

I got this product as part of an advertorial

I am an eyeliner hoarder!  I mean I have enough that its sick.  However with that being said, I always going through my eyeliners every few months and throw them out.  Recently EnvyDerm contacted Everything Beauty and Beyond to test out and review their eyeliner!  This company is based out in the USA and they shipped it to me in Canada!

I have been using this eyeliner now for about a week.  First thing that caught my eye about this liner was the pretty packaging it came in.  Now the real thing that made me go "wow" was that this eyeliner came with an awesome little booklet stating that this product is formulated without Prostaglandin, Parabens, Synthethic fragrance, Sulfates, Petrochemicals, Phthalates, GMO'S, Tricolosan, Mineral Oils and Animal Products to name a few.  Now, for the good stuff!  This product is formulated with Organic Moroccan Argan oil,  amino acids and Panthenol  to help make lashes healthier and stronger.

What was also awesome about this product is that it is certified cruelty free, carbon free and Halal!  This is pretty cool for anyone out there who is sensitive about using animal products in their makeup.  Also, for anyone who follows a Halal diet/lifestyle this also allows them to use this product with no problem.

I have to say, when I first cracked open this eyeliner, I was a bit scared since it didn't have a felt tip and was liquidity.  Nonetheless, I have always said in the name of beauty, you go for it!  Boy, was I amazed at this product and its ability to help you draw a straight line on your eye.  I have tried with just about every form of eyeliner made (gel, pencil, liquid) to draw a straight line in one shot! Yeah that never comes out good!  Yet with this eyeliner, I was able to draw a line with one straight shot! And I mean one good straight line!  It wasn't rigidity or had jagged edges.  Since the texture is very fluid, it draws on lovely and straight.

I drew lines on the back of my hand with the liner and then tried rubbing it to see its durability and I was amazed on how well it held.  However with that being said, keep this in mind.  Your eyes secrete water and oils naturally.  The back of your hand doesn't.  So it's best when you wear any type of eye makeup that you always use primer to make it last longer and go on smoother.  This held better and longer when I used primer.  However when tried it without primer, it didn't last as long and flaked a bit.  So primer I would highly recommend.

I have to say, this is one of the best eyeliners I have ever tried and I am very glad I got the chance to use it!

I have created (my first) youtube video talking about this liner!  You can either watch it here on my blog or go to my youtube channel to check it!  Sorry for the blurriness.  My camera focus on my makeup counter and not me!! Eh!! Next video's should be so much better!

I would say give this company a try if you are looking for a good liquid eyeliner with conditioning and enhancement properties!

June Favorites!

June Favorites!
So once again, I know I am so late with this, but whatever! Better late then never right!!  This month I really found some product that are just a gem to use in this hot weather and glorious time to show off your lovely skin for the summer!  FYI, I will be a doing a full review of the Too Faced Chocolate Palette for next month!  Also, starting next month I will be starting my own Youtube channel!!! So stay tune for that!

Scott Barnes Body Bling Platinum - $30.00 US

Scott Barnes Body Bling Platinum comes in two shades.  Platinum and original.  I bought this after looking for a self tanning lotion that give me a (real) shimmer look to my legs and arms when wearing a dress but without the 1-2 week commitment of having to keep the tan.  This made my legs shine and shimmer throughout the day in the sun and really gave them that "Victoria Secret runway" look!  It applied on easily and it washed off my hands with no problem.  This body bling is a nice platinum like color that doesn't leave you with a bronze tan look but more of slight noticeable beautiful shimmer effect.  I got to admit, I couldn't stop staring at my legs all day long!  If you buy the original you will end up with that J Lo tan if that is the look you are going for which is just as beautiful!  Just a word of caution, only use this on body parts that are exposed.  This does rub off on clothes and fabrics so be careful. Click here for the full review on this!

Ageless Derma Anti-Aging Intensive Skin Brightener - $49.00 US - See more at: http://everythingbeautyandbeyond.blogspot.com/2014/07/ageless-derma-anti-aging-intensive-skin.html#sthash.q2Sm9v7O.dpuf

This is one of the best skin brightener correctors for dark spots that I have ever used.  This comes in a lovely vacuum sealed jar that has a pump at the top that dispenses the right amount of product.  It works wonder on dark spots and is backed by actual research.  It has no fragrance or scent to it and applies smoothly on the skin.  It helps to deal with dark spots left behind from acne, sun spots, scars and so on.  I love the way this product has evened out my skin and reduced big time my dark spots from pimples.  Worth trying and investing in.  Also, the company is currently offer 20% off  if you use the code "ageless" at checkout! I just love this company!  For a full review on this product, click here!

OMG is all I can say!! I have never ever been so in love with a palette the way I am with this!  When I first heard of this palette my first thought was "please its just a palette!" and decided against it because it cost $59 PLUS 13% tax in Canada.  However one day while surfing the net I saw it was on sale at the HSN for $49.00 US and I found a coupon for $20 off the price!  So with free shipping, the palette and taxes I paid $31.00 US.  SOLD! I bought it and had it shipped to my sister in the USA who shipped it to me!  I have not stop reaching for this palette. The colors are so super pigmented and rich.  They don't crease and just beautiful when applied.  This palette smells like a pure chocolate bar.  I know it sounds crazy but I can even smell the chocolate eye shadow on my eyes all day long.  I love this palette and for the price which was literally half off I couldn't be happier.  You NEED this palette in your life!!

 Hydra B5 Masque Advance Formula + - $31.85 US

I am a fan of Cosmetic Skin Solution products.  From the moment I heard of them, I have been in love.  They recently came out with this gel type face masque that you apply on and let it set it.  Its more like a gel moisturizer.  Its extremely cooling and very silky.   It has no fragrance, dyes or alochol and is literally a master piece of a moisturizer.  I apply this masque every night at bed time as my last step.  It adsorbs into the skin very quickly and leaves it feeling silky smooth for the morning.  I mean your face literally feels like a baby's bottom.  I am not kidding.  It is just amazing!  The absorption rate is so quick, that by the time my head hits the pillow my face is nicely dry and ever so soft.   I don't know where this was the last few years of my life, but all I can say is that I love this mositruzer and plan to repurchase once it runs out!  For a full review of this product, click here!

So there you have it, my June favorites!

Keep Smiling!

May Favorites!

May Favorites!

I know, I know I am pretty late posting this! However I have a good reason! I moved the month of May and really spent a lot of time fixing up the new house and hardly any time shopping.  However as you can see, I did manage to squeeze some shopping in!

Bella & Bear High and Mighty Eyelash Curler - $15.99 US

I have a love hate relationship with eyelash curlers.  Nonetheless, I refuse to put mascara on without this tool.  However I have to say, out of all the eyelash curlers I have ever tried this one truly amazed me.  I curled my lashes with and without mascara and the curl held all day long.  It didn't pinch my skin or eyelid and truly just left me with a prefect lifted eyelash.  I just love this curler!

Adovia Mineral Balsam Dead Sea Salt Deep Hair Conditioner - $18.75 US

I was very curious about this item as I have never tried dead sea salt for the hair anything.  This thing smelled amazing and my hair literally looked and felt better then ever.  I have to say I was completely impressed.  It really made my hair shiny and just felt like silk when I ran my fingers through it.   I let my hair air dry then I flat ironed it and truly my hair was still looking awesome.  My dry ends didn't look horrible and my hair didn't feel oily or greasy.  This conditioner really helped in making my dandruff less flaky.  I would highly recommend this conditioner for anyone who is looking to use dead sea salt for their hair.

Pure & Essential Minerals Dead Sea Mud Mask - $29.44 US

I just love dead sea mud masks!  So when I got a chance to try this one, I was over the moon! This mask is awesome! It made my pores smaller and felt amazing on my face. It dried to a dark green color and wasn't concrete hard.  It washed off easily and with no real residue left behind.  It left my face feeling so baby soft that I couldn't stop touching it the next day!  The jar clearly says to only use once a week which is a bummer as I would love to use this 2-3 times a week.  However I plan to use this weekly till it runs out and according to their website you have about 30 plus facials you can get can out of this jar!  That is basically more then half a year if used weekly!

Baby Foot - $25.00 US

If you have dry, nasty cracked Velcro Syndrome feet, then you need this product.  This comes with two little booties inside that you place on feet for 1-2 hours.  It is filled with AHA which helps to exfoliate the skin on your feet.  This will make your feet peel anywhere from 3-5 days later up to two weeks later!  I tell you, I have never had feet so soft after using this product! My feet literally were baby soft!

Sabon Lavender Body Oil - $20.00 US

I just love the smell of lavender like you wouldn't believe.  It just gives me a warm and fuzzy feeling inside every time I smell it.  One day while watching Youtube I heard of this company called Sabon. I googled them and realized that they had this lovely lavender body oil and I really just needed to try it.  However they don't ship to Canada! Never fear, I got it shipped to my sister in NYC who mailed it to me. OMG I am in love! I wear this almost everyday after my shower and my body feels so soft and amazing and I smell like lavender for hours! I totally recommend this company!

Tarina Tarantino Sparklicity Shimmer Dust - Aurora - $39.00 US

I love facial highlighter.  I wear it everyday!  So when I heard you could get shimmer dust for your body as well I was literally over the moon!  Hey I figured if I could look like a disco ball all around then why not!  Tarina Tarantino has these lovely shimmer dust powders that come in three different colors.  You simply spray it on like you would perfume and it last all day long!  I love the way it makes me look and it has a slight lovely smell to it!  I bought mine from Hautelook however you can also buy it off their website!

April Favorites!

April Favorites!

So, for the month of April I ended up trying some amazing products that just really blew my mind away.  However its no surprise since it was my birthday this month, I figure I treat myself to all sorts of new, yummy and wonderful things!

No matter if your oily, normal or dry skin, everyone needs a moisturizer.  I have always used creams until I was given a sample of Josie Maran 100% Argan oil.  I used the oil every day for a month and saw how my dry patches on my face just floated away into nothing but pure and smooth moisturized skin.  However the price tag on it was just simply stupid.  A 1.7oz of Josie Maran Argan oil cost $58.00 CDN.  People, just in case for those who don't read the label, all this bottle has is 100% pure Agran oil....nothing more and nothing less.  Based on that I went hunting for something cheaper but that was still organic, cold press with no fillers or anything taken away.  I was delighted when I found Poppy Austin Agran oil.  For a bottle of 2oz the price came out to $26.55.  Shipping cost me $7.00 to Canada and I still saved a crap load of money.  I received a bringer bottle that was still the same thing Josie Maran was selling, only more realistic in price.  I would highly recommend this oil be added to your daily skincare routine.  It didn't clog my pores or make my face grease.  All you need is 2-3 drops of this oil to see the magic.  I mix it in with my daily cream moisturizer during the winter for an extra punch and/or with my face serum.  Its worth trying and for the price, you can't go wrong.

Poppy Austin 100% Agran Oil - $26.00 USA

No matter if you have oily, normal or dry skin, everyone needs a moisturizer and Argan Oil is one of the best all natural moisturizer you can use! This oil is organic, cold press with no fillers or anything taken away. It doesn't clog your pores or make your face grease. All you need is 2-3 drops of this oil to see the magic. I mix it in with my daily cream moisturizer during the winter for an extra punch and/or with my face serum. Its worth trying and for the price, you can't go wrong. You can buy it off Amazon.com and have it shipped to Canada for $7.00.

Chantecaille The Coral Reefs Palette - $79.00 USA

I bought this eyeshadow palette off Ebay for $40. I really wanted it when I first saw it, however I was not willing to pay almost $80 for an eyeshadow palette. Nonetheless I love this palette. The shadows are so creamy, soft and just blend so easy on the eyes. They have a beautiful gold coral reef painted on each eyeshadow. However that is only temporary as once it rubs off, the gold sheen is gone. The colors are very pretty. The top two colors are eye shadows. The dark brown one is suppose to be used for eyeliner and the pretty dark peach color is blush. However I use them all as eyeshadow! This palette is truly just beautiful to look at!

Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder - $29.00 CDN

The Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder is amazing to apply to your under eye area. It helps to avoid your concealer from creasing and since the powder is finely milled it doesn't settle into the fine lines of your eyes. It's very creamy and distributes nicely underneath your eyes. It doesn't leave behind any glittery look. Instead what I did see was my dark under eye circles almost vanish. After I applied the LM brightening powder I was shock to see how my under eye area no longer look dark and dreary. Instead it looked alive, with color and bright. I would highly recommend this powder be used to set your under eye concealer if you are looking for a more alive and bright look which will help to hide the dark circles that your concealer might not be able to fully do!

Especially Escada Elixir - $58/$77/$104 CDN

When I first smelled this fragrance it automatically took me to a beautiful faraway land where roses laid on every bush in the garden that I walked through (in my mind). With waterfalls made of rose water that compared to simple bliss. This fragrance is very light weigh yet not too florally. It has a crisp scent that does not overpower your sense of smell and the thought of rose gardens are on your mind. It really does remind you of walking in a field of roses. So if you are in the market for a new scent, I highly recommend you try this product.

Color Your Smile Lighted Up Gloss Nude - $24.00 USA

This lip gloss is one of a kind. Not only is the color beautiful, but it also has two amazing functionality. If comes with a very decent mirror on the back of the lip gloss which works amazing to look at while you are applying the product. It also has a set of lights on the lip gloss top itself. When you open up the gloss the lights turn on so that you can see yourself in the mirror as you apply it. Great for using when you are in a dark room! The color of this lip gloss is a beautiful nude. It glides on creamy and has good staying power. These lip glosses come in other lovely colors and worth checking out.

Chanel Correcteur Perfection Long Lasting Concealer - $40.00 CDN

This concealer has some of the best staying power and cover up I have every seen. It last all day without streaking or disappearing throughout the day. It glides on creamy and soft and blends in amazingly. It comes in three different colors to work with certain skin tones. The packaging is quite simple and the product is very easy to apply. It comes in a fairly standard size tube with a decent amount of product. I have tried so many concealers in my time and this Chanel long lasting concealer is true to its name and just amazing!

Well there you have it! My April Favorites!

Keep Smiling!

Favorite Product of The Week! Dose of Colors!

Dose of Colors is a new lipstick and lipgloss company that rolled out in 2013.  Since their debut, everyone has been non-stop talking about how awesome their lip products are.  So I decided to try them out!  Unfortunately, due to a back up on their production line, I have not been able to get my hands on them.  Nonetheless, everyone who jumped on that bang wagon and tried them out have been able to provide me with awesome reviews of this brand!

Dose of Colors - Poise - $16.00 CDN

Everyone who knows me, knows I go goo goo for natural colored lip products.  I don't like my lips to be accented since I do that with my eye makeup.  And everyone who knows makeup knows you shouldn't really accent your eyes and lips at the same time as the look might be to overpowering.  So Dose of Colors has this lovely lipstick in the shade "Poise" which is just a prefect blend of what seems to be an undertones of a brown color with peachy pigments in them.

I am just in love with this shade.  It is vibrant and does not look like a washed out neutral lip color.  The peachy undertone really gives it a power that makes the lipstick stand out without being obnoxious.  The texture is very creamy, glides on well and has good staying power.  This lipstick is also matted so need to worry about shine effect.

Dose of Colors - Undressed - $15.00 CDN

I won't lie.  I LOVE lipgloss and I love it more then lipstick.  So when I saw this neutral lipgloss color I went crazy.  It  is such a lovely shade that I can't even describe it.   It's a light cream brown with a pale undertone which goes well with pale complexions.  Being that I am very pale (don't let my profile pic fool you, that was taken in a dark ballroom) a lot of neutrals just don't work for me if they have no undertone or slight color to them.

This color is just a perfect shade of loveliness.  If you are looking for a lipgloss that has good staying power and lacks that waxy, sticky feeling then this is it.  There lipglosses also come in other shades so check them out and see if they are right for you!

keep Smiling!

A Few of My Favorite Things!

My friend Diane motivated me to start blogging with her about one of my passions; Beauty! So I figured I blog about a few of my favorite things when it comes to beauty that you can buy just for yourself! Cause admit it, you been good this year and sadly Santa didn't bring you what you wanted on your list last year!!

A few of My Favorite Things!

Check below on a "few of my favorite things" from my collection. I had added a picture and a direct link to the products. Please note all products are bought and tried by me. No one has paid me or given me free stuff to review! However that be just awesome if they did!!

Some people believe that the eyes are the windows to the soul. If that be true, its best then that your eye don't seem like curtains are falling upon them. One of the most neglected area are the eyes. The older we get, the first signs of aging and wrinkles for many appear here. This fabulous product was made by a company called Ageless Derma.  This eye cream not only has retinol but vitamin K in it which is essential for the eye to combat against wrinkles. And while we know nothing can stop you from aging (don't buy that hype), however it can help you look good by diminishing the look of wrinkles as you get older.

Everyday Minerals Itahake Brush- $9.59 (Normally $15.99) US

Ever since I heard about highlighting and contouring, I have never looked back. While I will admit it does takes some time and practice to do, the makeup AND tools are everything to achieve this look.  Part of contouring is knowing how to angle the brush properly on your face in order to draw those deep lines. The Itahake Brush by Everyday Minerals does just that. Its rectangular shape allows you to draw that "Kardashian" line on the hollows of your cheeks. This brush is currently on sale for $15.99 and always sold out.  Buy it while you can.

When I first heard of this product I was so skeptical it wasn't even funny. Like come on, please...a powder that can give you a candlelight like glow without being photoshopped?! I was so skeptical that I knew I had to buy it.  So I ran (not walked) to my nearest Sephora and bought it with my Christmas gift card that I just received because I don't believe in waiting till Dec 25 to open up my gifts! Upon arriving home, I tried it right away. I was SHOCKED to see that standing under my bathroom light in the mirror my face looked flawless. I think I admired myself so long that I lost track of time (seriously). I could not believe this product actually lived up to the hype. This comes in six colors. I currently only have it in Luminous but I sure as hell plan to buy all the other five compacts. However do note, all these colors do not work on every skin tone. Please try them out before buying. They are pretty expensive so you want to make sure you get the right one that works for you!

Guerlain Lingerie De Peau Invisible Skin Fusion Foundation SPF 20 is by far the best foundation I have ever tried that actually gives you a no foundation look. This foundation goes on smoothly and dries quickly.  It seems like you have a second skin only just flawless and nothing like Hannibal Lecter type freakish! This also has SPF 20. However with that being said, don't rely on  this or any SPF in makeup to protect you from the sun. You would need to apply this VERY heavy in order to actually receive the benefits of an SPF 20 protection. Don't believe me!? Read the medical journal articles on makeup with SPF protection in them and how well they do (or more like don't) protect you. The only thing I don't like about this foundation is that it does contain alcohol and fragrance in the bottle. Two things which are not good for your skin and I hope Guerlain realizes this and eventually removes this from their formula.  However if you are not allergic to these two ingredients, then I do recommend this foundation if you truly want that flawless finish!

Prescriptives Magic Liquid translucent powder is truly magically! This little powder, looks like powder but feels like a watery mist when applied. I first tried this 15 years ago at Bloomingdales in NYC and was sold...until they discontinued the line in 2009.  However in 2011 they relaunched exclusively online and once again I was able to feel the "magic" of this powder on my face! However the only draw back is that they only ship in the USA! So every time I run out I need to have it ship to my sister in NYC who in return ships it to me. Nonetheless, its free shipping within the US when you buy anything from their website. So if you have someone who can ship it to you, then by all means go buy it and go magically for the year!

E.L.F. studio 11 piece brush collection is truly a bang for your buck. These brushes are professionally made and don't cost a fortune to buy. While I complete agree that a good brush is needed to apply makeup and foundation, nonetheless I sometimes can't swallow the crazy price tags some come with. I bought this for half the price on a sale E.L.F. was having on 50% of everything for those few days.  If you are looking into buying good brushes, but don't want to invest just yet in really expensive ones, then give these a try. E.L.F. does ship to Canada for a $15 flat fee. It might seem high, however E.L.F. balances itself out with the money you save when buying their products.

Moroccan Oil Treatment-$16.60/$43.00 US

Hair is very important to me. Hair can tell a lot about your health and how well you do or don't take care of it. 3 years ago while I was getting a hair cut, the stylish put this in my hair and I swear it was like a little miracle in a bottle. I have used it ever time I wash and set my hair. This not only smells amazing, but it leaves my hair shiny and healthy looking.  The bottle is made of glass and can become slipper once the oil touches your hand. Your best bet is to pump it while it stands on your bathroom counter in order to avoid a spilled mess all over your floor when you drop it and break it!  Don't say I didn't warn you!

When I hit 30 (a few years back) I realized I was no longer living in a teenage dream like Katy Perry sings it. I also realized that my skin after years of grad school, 3 kids and the harsh winter weather had seriously hit a "OMG how old are you again" theme.  Upon speaking with my knowledgeable friends about skincare, one clearly told me "girl, if you ain't using retinol at your age, then you ain't using anything at all." Needless to say I was stunned. I did my research and found that Cosmetic Skin Solutions was offering a retinol creme with 1.0%.  The most effect is between .05% and 1.0%. However if you have never tried retinol before, its best you start off with a lower percentage until your skin grows tolerance to it. Also, if you are new to this product, then use it every 2-3 days until your skin can handle the retinol in any amount. Lastly, you NEED TO USE a UVA/UVB Broad-Spectrum Protection SPF 30 and up when using retinol.  If not you run the risk of getting a sunburn when expose to the sun.  This stuff is truly amazing and would highly recommend it!

I love makeup! And the one thing I love the most is beautiful makeup! So when I saw this palette on a youtube video that someone did, I just needed to have it. This palette is so beautiful that you feel guilty using it. However with the price tag it carries, you will feel even guiltier if you don't!! This palette goes for a hot price of $79. If you ask me I think its way to overpriced. However they donate 5% of their sales of each palette to the wild life conservation that their palettes are currently themed after each year.  I bought this palette on Amazon for $39. I had a gift card for $30 so in fact all I really paid was $9! STEAL! So I would shop around the web and see if you can get a good deal before cough up $79 bucks!

I love anything neutral in color! Neutral eyeshadow, bronzer blush and neutral lipstick. While watching youtube (again) I saw someone use this lipstick by MAC in the color Blankety. I went to the MAC counter at Fairview Mall in Toronto, ON and bought this.  This was my first ever purchase at MAC in my whole life.  I had never until one month ago ever bought something from this cosmetic line.  Nonetheless this lipstick is awesome! Goes on smooth and creamy and when used with their lip primer it last for a few hours! Just love love this color!

I just LOVE Sigma. They had for 2 days a free shipping anywhere in the world event! So I decided to jump on that and order their eyeliner in the color 'balance' (brown). The day I received this eyeliner, I was actually giving a small talk at a medical seminar that night. So I decided to try this eyeliner out. This eyeliner is awesome. It is smooth, creamy and does not smudge. It held out all night while I spoke at the conference. I just love the color. It does have some small sparkle to it which I was not too crazy about. However unless you are standing very up close to me (hello personal space!?) you can't see it at all. I would highly recommend this company!

I bought this palette after watching a yet another youtube video (I really need to get off youtube) with a girl who was contouring and highlighting with this palette. She did such an amazing job that I google the product and found it online. This company is based out in Ireland however they have amazing shipping rates which are actually cheaper then some of the products mentioned here in this blog.  It arrived to my house in less then two weeks and was nicely packaged to avoid damage in the mail. This palette is big and true to form.  The colors work well when contouring and highlighting your face. I highly recommend this palette (and a youtube video) for beginners who are interested in learning this makeup technique.

I love ANY mascara made by L'Oreal. Their mascaras are awesome and hold their weight in well...mascara. I have never bought any other type of maraca but only the L'Oreal brand.  This mascara extended my lashes like crazy. I will admit it didn't give me the fullness I was looking for, however it did make up in the length factor. It was easy to apply, never smudged, flaked or moved! I would highly recommend this mascara for anyone who is looking for length!

I love bronzer and anything that gives you a hit of shimmer with it.  I bought this bronzer from Sephora when it was on sale in the summer.  This bronzer comes with two shades. The bronzer side in a deep chocolate brown and the shimmer side in a nice medium pinkish. You can use these two colors together by swirling them around or separately to contour and highlight. However you decide to use them, this is one beautiful compact to have.  This is a must have for me!

Tis the season for the holidays and with that comes chapped lips!!  I remember the first time I saw this lip balm I was in awe of its shape. I ran to my nearest Sephora looking for it, but realized it was not sold there. One day upon walking into Shoppers Drugmart, I realized it was in their chapstick section. I bought this first in their Sweet Mint flavor and then went back and bought their Christmas ornament pack of 3 for $9.99 CDN.  I am in love with these sphere like eggs. I carry this everywhere I go in my purse! They have a great taste and sooth your dry lips.  I highly recommend this for anyone who wants to protect their lips again the cold weather and carry around a sphere like egg lip balm in their purse (or pocket).

Elta MD UV Pure Broad-Spectrum SPF 47- $14.69 US

No amount of makeup will make your skin look better if you really don't take care of it. Out of everything I own in my makeup draw, this is the one thing I would never trade or leave the house without it on.  Skin cancer is very serious and it keeps rising year after year. Before applying my makeup but after doing my skincare routine every morning, I apply this.  This sunscreen has 10.0% Zinc oxide, 5.5% Titanium dioxide which are the active ingredients needed to protect yourself against the sun and its UVA/UVB rays.  While yes I will admit it does leave a white cast on your face, however if you properly rub it in and use a small amount to make sure it covers your whole face and neck then you will be ok.  Moreover, if are going to wear makeup after applying this, then no need to worry as the makeup will cover it with no problem.  Remember nothing says beautiful skin then when you properly care for it.

Beauty Blender- $26.00 CDN

Out of all the tools I have used in my life to apply my foundation and concealer, nothing has worked as well as my beauty blender.  I cannot say enough about this product.  This sponge works like magic. It makes my foundation go on smoothly, leaves no streaks behind and blends so amazingly.  You can buy this online from the company directly or go to your nearest Sephora and pick one up there. This sponge is very easy to clean and works well when applying concealer and powder foundation or powder in general.  This is my HG tool for foundation. And yes while I still do my have my foundation brush, this sponge is the first thing I pull out every time!

The E.L.F. Studio baked eyeshadow palette in California looks a lot like Sephora's Moonshadow baked palette in nude.  This E.L.F. palette has beautiful hues of colors in nude shades.  They work well when blended and look lovely when applied.  For a cool $10 they are a lot cheaper then the Sephora ones for the same amount of colors and palette size. I love this palette and love playing with it when dressing up to go out. I highly recommend this palette if you are into nude shades but don't want to pay twice the amount for the Sephora one.

Victoria Secret Pro Magic FX Radiant Flash Brightening Cream- $16 US ($20 CDN)

When Prescriptives (PX) decided to close down their production line in 2009, out went with it their Prescriptives Magic Potion. I was beyond devastated let me tell you. On the days I didn't wear makeup, I would just apply that Magic Potion and out the door I went. It gave such an amazing look to my skin in the sunlight. Nonetheless when they relaunched in 2011 the Magic Potion sadly didn't relaunch with it. After years of searching for something similar to it, I think...no I know that I found it.  VS currently is selling a product that for me looks and feels identical to PX Magic Potion.  VS Pro Magic FX cream works just like the one PX use to make. However the good part about it is that it cost less then the PX one and works just as well. You simply apply this after your primer but before your foundation. It gives your skin a lovely glow that looks almost holographic.  You can also wear this by itself! This is my HG when it comes to 'magic potions'.  I was so excited when I saw this that I bought the last two left at the VS store in the Eaton Centre!

Ben Nye Bella Luxury Powder- $10.59/$14.82/$27.52 CDN

Enough cannot be said about this banana powder so I will try to keep it small so that I don't bore you with the details.  This banana powder was created for people who work on stage and in front of the cameras. However when Kim Kardashian's makeup artist posted a picture of her with this powder on, it became an instant hit.  This powder works wonders for those who contour and highlight their face. You apply this powder on your highlighted areas and wow what a difference it makes. This powder can also be used to set your concealer. However a word of caution, this powder does not look good on all skin types. Therefore Ben Nye Bella Luxury powders come in different colors. Its best to find the shade that work for your skin color before you end up looking raccoon eyed.  Camera Ready Cosmetics currently sells these products at an amazing deal. If you are not sure how to use this powder then youtube (yes I said it) and you will see many different people showing and explaining the advantages of this powder.

Beautee Fiber Lash Mascara- $40 AUD

I bought this after seeing yet another youtube video with a girl who applied it on her lashes.  I was amazed on how this transformed her lashes from small to lush and full. When it didn't arrive to my house almost two weeks later, I contacted their customer service to see if they could find me a tracking number.  They replied to me in less then an hour and were so incredibly helpful.  It arrived in exactly two weeks and I tried it on right away while at home.  It made my lashes fuller, thicker and longer. I was in awe on just how well it worked. The only downside to this, is that it flakes.  Not a lot, but enough to bother me. While I do plan to use it again because on how amazing it is, however I have been reading everywhere that fiber mascara does flake in general. I recommend trying it if you don't mind having to wipe underneath your eyes here and there throughout the day.  This company is based out in Australia so hence why it took so long to arrive.

Paula's Choice Resist C15 Super Booster- $36 US

One of the best things you can do for your skin is to take care of it. I have for a long time been using 15% vitamin C & E with ferulic acid.  However when Paula' Choice came out with a version of their own that included all the above plus peptides, I knew I had to try it.  This serum brightens your complex, stimulates collagen growth and helps protect your skin from the environment. I use this everyday and apply it on last after my skincare routine. However if you are going to be using this product then you MUST USE SPF 15 or higher in order to be protected from the sun as this does make your skin sensitive to the rays.  This by far is the best thing I have every use for my skin. I highly recommend this or any Vit C & E with ferulic acid serum for your everyday skincare routine.  Lastly, you NEED TO USE a UVA/UVB Broad-Spectrum Protection SPF 30 and up when using vitamin C.  If not you run the risk of getting a sunburn when expose to the sun.

Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion- $24 CDN

I have been a fan of UD eyeshadow primer potion from the first day I tried it.  Nothing has held my eyeshadow makeup in the same way this does.  This goes on smoothly and doesn't allow your eyeshadow to crease, flake, move or disappear.  It comes in a few colors, however I like the original version as you can't really see the ones with color once you apply your eyeshadow.  I highly recommend this product if you want your eyeshadow to last all day without a touch up needed.

Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage Concealer- $35 CDN

I have extremely dark undereye circles due to my many years in grad school, late nights, having babies and overall just not sleeping!  I have tried just about every concealer from drugstore brands to high end and nothing has worked...until recently.  I went to Sephora a few days back to pick up my Hourglass Ambient powder when I decided to ask one of the girls about concealer.  She recommend this one by Laura Mercier.  While yes many people complain about having to mix it, however once I did and applied it my dark circles it just disappeared! I was truly amazed on how well it worked. This concealer is pretty thick so you need to warm it up well before you use it. I either blow hot air on it, or heat the back of my hand for a few seconds with my blow dryer to make it creamier so it is easy to blend and apply it to my eye area. Once that is done I blend it in with my beauty blender, apply my Guerlain foundation and then set it with my Ben Nye Banana Powder or my Prescriptives Magic powder.  Either way, this concealer is a life saver and I plan to use it and re-buy it unless something else better comes along!

Keep Smiling!
