I have been using VoilaVe for the past few months and I have to say not one product has disappointed me.  Not only are the majority of their products organic, Eco Certified and USDA Certified, but they are not filled with binders and fillers which really does make a difference in skincare.   

When the company asked me if I was interested in trying out their Rosehip oil, I was so delighted!  You see for the last year I have been dying to try Rosehip oil.  However the majority of companies I looked into did not sell this in an organic pure form.  Many contained alcohol and other nonsense ingredients that I would not subject my face to!  So when I finally had a chance to try this beauty out, I was literally counting down the days and stalking my amazon account in order to see when the shipment would arrive!  I have tried one other form of rosehip oil in the past, but I was interesting in see how VoilaVe would compare.

I received a 4oz bottle of rosehip oil that came in a pump action form.  The bottle was opaque in color which is necessary.  You see rosehip oil is an antioxidant so it breaks down with light and air.  So the pump is great as it controls the amount of air and light exposure that occurs when one constantly opens and closes a product for usage.  The color of the rosehip oil was pretty interesting.  I was like a burnt orange color which I have never seen before in any other type of beauty oil.  

This rosehip oil is a bit thick so a little goes a long way.  Out of all the oils I have tried, this for sure was the most dense.  However when applied to the skin it went on smoothly with no problems.  Rosehip oil can be used for your face, skin, hair and nails.  It actually reminds me of Argan oil and the amazing properties it carries.  Rosehip oil can smooth out rashes on your face and body, help treat eczema and acne as well help with sunburns and dryness. 

I have to say I am really impressed by this product.  It doesn't leave my face oily and adsorbs into the skin right after application.  I never had issues with breakouts or any allergic reactions.  For the fact that I am pregnant now, I am very careful about the products I put on my face.  And knowing that this product is organic really makes me feel safe about using it.  Since finding out I was pregnant I have mostly switched all my skincare products to VoilaVe because I know it wouldn't cause harm to my baby and will keep my skin looking good while my hormones try to attack my face during pregnancy!

I highly recommend this oil if you are looking to try a beauty oil that is an antioxidant with great benefits!

Biotin For Hair Growth Review

Biotin For Hair Growth - $29.95 US

I received this product as part of an advertorial. 

I noticed a while back that my hair started to become very thin and brittle.  In my teens and twenties, I literally dyed my hair every color under the sun and did anything and everything imagined that hair could handle.  However, after having my three children, my hair really took a hit and started falling out in ways that scared me.  I added extensions into my hair, used every type of product out their to make it healthy again but nothing worked.  

I then heard about Hairfinity and decided to try it out.  I was amazed at the results I saw in six weeks!  I was so amazed that when Biotin asked me to try out their hair growth tablets I jumped at the chance and stop using my Hairfinity in order to give this a fair shot.  I mean if Hairfinity worked for me, then probably this would be a hit as well!

 Honestly, I have mixed feelings on writing this review.  The reason is because I did not notice a difference in my hair after taking the vitamins for three weeks.  I did not notice my hair feeling stronger or thicker throughout the last month. I don’t think that with these vitamins a month is long enough to notice changes in hair growth.  Where I did see a difference was in my nail.  My nails ended up growing longer and were harder in texture and less breakage occurred.

What I did like about these vitamins is that they were easy to swallow and did not leave a bad after taste in your mouth like most vitamins do.  These vitamins were not horse pills which is a plus I think in anyone's books!  So for sure, I would give them a bonus on that.  It didn't upset my stomach either or cause me any breakouts which I read some people had with these vitamins.  

I would recommend the vitamins if you are looking to grow long, healthy and sturdy nails.  However I cannot recommend this product for hair growth at this time as you need at least six weeks to see results in my opinion.  I think if this product is taken for more than a month you would start seeing results.  With Hairfinity it took me six weeks to see results.  I think this product could work as well if six weeks were given for testing.  However I only had about three weeks and change in order to try it out.  So a longer time line would of been better.

I am a scent person. I seriously am.  I mean I am such a scent person that I shower twice a day and use all sorts of body, hair and face products in order to ensure that I always smell clean.  The same way I feel about myself is how I feel about my home.  My home needs to always smell clean, crisp and lovely.  If it doesn't, then let me tell you the candles start coming out.  However with that being said, since I am currently pregnant, I am very smell sensitivity to the point where lately all smells have been turning me off.  However, when I was contacted by Old Factory to try their handmade natural soy wax self trimming cotton wick candles, I was game.  The reason why I was so into trying these candles out was because they had so many different scents to choice from and something about them made me feel the scent were pretty authentic and not filled with just dyes and perfumes.  Which is something I totally can't stand when candle companies substitute candle scents with heavy fragrances.   

Old Factory Candles come in 12 different box sets of three in 2oz forms.  Since the holidays are upon us I decided to try out their Happy Holidays edition.  I really wanted try out their Winter Wonderland edition, but I decided on the other set instead.  However I tell you right now, I am planning to buy their Wonderland edition as soon as my Happy Holiday edition set is done!

Scent in general are very important and powerful to people.  Being a psych major and psychotherapist by profession, smells can either bring someone great comfort or great distress.  Smells can helps us sell a house (homemade chocolate chip cookies in the oven) or turn us off like on a first date!  Smelling these candles truly brought me back to great moments in my life that actually brought me down memory lane!

The Happy Holiday Edition comes with three candles in the scent of Christmas Tree, Candy Cane and Gingerbread.  First let me start off by saying, I don't know how this company actually captured and bottled the scents of these candles in such an accurate way.  But they were so precise that I ran around the house making everyone sniff the candles and guess the scent before I told them what it was.  Everyone except for one person guessed them all correctly.        

The Christmas Tree candles actually smells like an Evergreen Tree.  And when I say Evergreen I mean Evergreen.  The smell is just crisp, amazing and not heavily scented.  I love the smell of an Evergreen Tree.  However I hate the smells of those trees that are so strong that they sting your eyes.  This smell reminded me of walking in the crisp winter snow with Evergreen trees surrounding me as snow falls ever so softly on my hair with a gentle breeze that is neither too cold or too warm for my skin.  I honestly kept thinking back at my time growing up in the Bronx, NY in the Oval Park where I spent many of my winters playing in the snow!  The smell of Pine and Evergreen Trees always brings me back home.  

The Candy Cane scent was delicious.  Growing up, I loved eating candy canes for Christmas because I love just about anything mint.  However, I can't stand mint that is so strong that it unclogs your nose and stings your eyes out.  This Cane Candy candle scent was so soft, gentle and minty delicious.  the mint smell was just right and capture the smell of candy canes hanging off a Christmas Tree in the right form.  Honestly, if I wasn't pregnant I think I would of grabbed a spoon and scooped it out for dessert.  It reminded me of vanilla mint ice cream!

I can't say enough about the Gingerbread candle scent.  I grew up in a private school were 90% of my teachers were Irish and the rest were British.  So Gingersnaps and gingerbread cookies were constantly being handled out on every and all holidays!  This Gingerbread candle scent brought me back to my elementary years.  This candle literally smelled like a Gingerbread house.  The smell was so delectably delicious.  I sat there for a good while just inhaling the smell in and taking in the memories.  There was no heavy fake perfume fragrance.  It literally smelled like I had gingerbread cookies baking in my oven. 

I have to say, out all the candles I have bought throughout my life, nothing and I mean nothing smelled as authentic as these candles.  While I have only tried their Happy Holiday Edition Set, I don't doubt that their Winter Wonderland will smell just as great.  I have decided since I am also having a baby soon, I will probably also buy their New Born Baby Edition Set.  I mean come on, nothing smells better than a new born baby who's been freshly bathed and all powdered up!

However I only have one complaint about this company and its that they only ship to the USA.  Being the fact that I currently live in Canada but travel back and forth, I had to get these mailed to my American address and then shipped to my Canadian address because right now I am in Canada.  So if you live in the USA I would say for sure buy these candles.  Trust me nothing will come as close to real life scents as these candles!

Must Have Makeup Brushes!

I have makeup brushes from Blank Canvas Cosmetics (BCC) and I love them.  It wasn't until I bought my first professional set did I realize what a big change it made to my makeup application and wear.  So since I like to believe (in my mind) that I am there (unofficial) spokes rep in Canada, I decided to create my own (imaginary) "De Romero Beauty Brush Box" of the brushes you need and should get if you wanted to start off with some.  Now keep in mind you don't have to buy it from them, however they do have amazing quality brushes, at amazing prices with amazing shipping rates that its literally....well amazing!  Now just so you know my addiction, with the exception of the new brushes that came out March 31, and three from the previous collection; I own just about every brush from them.  I know I have problems! But who cares when my makeup looks awesome!!  Also, I do have other brushes from other brands, but none so far have been able to beat out my BCC brushes!!

Foundation Brushes

The F20 Flat Top Buffer Brush comes in two colors.  Either a pink or black handle to suit your color need!  This brush is amazing to blend in your liquid, cream or powder foundation.  It is made of kabuki material so it doesn't allow the product to soak into the hairs of the brush and delivers a flawless look when you either stipple and/or buff in your makeup.  I love this brush.  I can't live without it. If I was standard on an island, I would make this my "Wilson"! (Please tell me you saw castaway)! This brush sells for $21.28.

The F23 Pointed Tip Face Brush is "the bomb"!  (Yeah so I come from The Bronx, so what it comes out sometimes!!)  This brush is amazing to use to blend in your concealer.  Because of its pointed tip, it blends it in perfectly underneath the eyes, around the nose and mouth.  It blends it in so well that I am not left with cakey concealer that fills in the fine lines of my under eye area.   This brush sells for $21.28.

Face Brushes

The F15 Small Taper Brush comes either with a black or red head bristle.  You can use this brush to highlight your face or to apply blush or bronzer with because of its tapered pointed edge it helps to apply precise product.  You can also use this to apply powder underneath your eye to set your concealer.  Due to its pointed tip, I use to it set my concealer underneath my eyes because it fits perfectly in that area.  This brush is made from high grade natural goat hair.  This brush sells for $21.28.

The F14 Round Top Cheek Brush is just amazing.  I love this brush!  I use this brush to apply my powder highlight with.  I love powder (and liquid) highlighter.  If it wasn't for the fact that I am 33 years old, I swear I would drown myself in highlighter.  (Don't worry I keep it normal when I wear it). This brush is awesome because it fits perfectly on the tops of my cheek bone, over the tops of my eyebrow bones, down the bridge of my nose, tip of my top lip and chin.  This brush is made of natural goat hair so it feels silky smooth and glides so well on your face and its cute too so that is a plus for me!  It sells for $21.28.

The F25 Large Powder/Bronzer Brush is currently my new obsession in brushes.  This brush is so soft that at times when nobody is looking and I am home alone, I just rub it across my face as I work.  I just love the way it feels.  This brush is great for applying powder products.  I use it to apply my face powder with.  This brush is very large so it picks up the powder and delivers it along larger surfaces of my face evenly.  I just love love this brush.  It sells for $21.28.

Eye Brushes

The E24 Flat Shader/Lay Down Brush is prefect for picking up and applying product to your eyelid.  Its made from soft natural goat hair so it's fluffy and firm at the same time which help for packing on the eyeshadow.  This brush sells for $10.53.

 

The E32 Tapered Crease Blender Brush is prefect for seamless blending of your eyeshadow along the lid and crease.  Its made from all natural high grade goat hair so its very soft.  I love this brush because it blends in my makeup so well in my crease that it leaves behind no harsh lines.  I am in love with this brush.  I don't know how my eye makeup ever got around without it.   This brush sells for $10.63.

The E26 Blending Brush is prefect for blending in your eyeshadow on your lid.  Since a lot of us wear two to three different shades on our lids to get a multi-dimensional look, this brush helps to blend it all in order to get a seamless no harsh line effect.  This brush is made of natural goat hair that is ever so soft.  This brush sells for $10.63.

The E23 Pencil Brush is so versatile that I can't begin to describe it.  You can use to apply shadow in your crease for a precise placement.  You can use it as well to apply shadow to the inner corner of your eye, the outer edges of your eye and to the lash line on the lower eyelid to smudge in eyeliner or to add shadow there.  I love this brush.  If I could own 100 of these I would.  Well maybe not...but you get my obsession.  This brush sells for $10.63.  

The E28 Ultra Fine Liner is awesome for applying eyeliner with.  I use this all the time to apply my gel eyeliner with to my upper and lower lashes with easy.  It gives me a straight and prefect line with no stray hairs to get in the way.  You can also use it to line your lips with, but I prefer it as a eyeliner brush.  This brush sells for $10.63.

Well there you have it.  The BCC (imaginary) "De Romero Beauty Brush Box".  As stated before you don't need all these brushes.  However for a person starting out, they will cover your must basic needs regardless of who you get them from! However I do highly recommend these from Blank Canvas!

I love my Iphone.  Or any smart phone for this matter.  And nothing shows proud ownerships then apps on your phone.  Now-a-days you can find an app for anything and literally everything.  So when I was asked if I was interested in trying out this beauty app, I was sold!

Weather to Wear is an Iphone app that lets you know if its to windy to wear a skirt that day or not.  At first I thought this App was a good idea assuming I would be told to wear a sweater, hat, or scarf if needed.  But the app just shows the wind for the day, meaning if you wear a skirt how far up it would go by the way the wind was blowing  Needless to say I found this app unless for me.  First, I come from NYC, where the winters can be Arctic.  However that doesn't stop many of us from stepping out in a stylish skirt and let's say nice leg warmers to go with the outfit.  Moreover depending where you live, depends what the wind means to you.  In LA 74-75 degrees and windy; its freezing for them.  In NYC that's a nice walk in central park.

I feel like this app should of incorporated stylish ideas.  So instead of the saying the wind would simply blow my skirt, it would of been better showing me the temperature and outfit possibilities for the day. 

Is the concept of the app a good idea? For sure it is.  But at this point I cannot recommend an app that is only shows the wind being blow up my skirt.

Like all women, I have cellulite. I mean which girl doesn’t, right!  Nonetheless we all know it’s not pretty.  Due to the way our muscles are shaped it is visible on our skin unlike men! And like all girls, I am always on the hunt to see how I can reduce it viability.  So when I was asked if I was interested in trying this cellulite cream, I of course jumped at the chance. Hey, I mean if there was a small possibility that it could work then why not! However with that being said,  I am realistic to the fact that nothing gets rid of cellulite.  However there are certain things we can do to help reduce the appearance of its cottage cheese effect.

I tried this product on my upper thighs until the entire contents were gone. I liked that the product went on smooth and dried quickly so it was easy to put my clothes on right after. I didn’t have to wait like most cellulite creams I’ve tried in the past for it to dry.  It also does not have a strong smell to it which is nice if you wear scented lotions or perfume. Who wants to smell like nasty body cream when you have Oscar de La Renta on!

I was only able to use this product for three weeks, because it ran out quickly.  So, I can’t say 100% that this product will get rid of cellulite as promised after only using for that short amount of time. The jar was very small so you need at least a good 4-6 weeks to see some results.  However I did feel my skin was firmer in the areas I applied the cream to.  It wouldn’t be a bad idea to add this to an exercise regimen, as exercise can help with reducing the look of cellulite.  But I wouldn’t count on this cream to get rid of cellulite without actually exercising the problem area(s).

So would I recommend this cream? I can’t say for right now as the jar didn’t actually give me enough product to see proven results.

Again no creams are miracle cures, but many of them can help with the look of your skin!

September Favorites!

September is an awesome month!  Its when Fall returns and the leaves turn a beauty shade of Autumn colors!  Its a great time to start working on your makeup Fall looks!  Plus its also time to look further into your skincare routine and ramp it up.  Since the cold wear is approaching, its always good to start taking care of your skin now!  So Jenny and I decided to put together a few products for your makeup needs and skincare routine!

VoilaVe Triple Action Vitamin C Serum - $19.95 US

VoilaVe is a company that sells only quality products with quality ingredients.  My vanity is slowly morphing over to being a small VoliaVe display.  I so far have used all the products they have sent me for review and have replaced a lot of my other facial skincare products with there's.  This serum is a triple action vitamin c that also contains hyaluronic acid.  Come on, you know it doesn't get any better than that!  This leaves my skin feeling awesome and contains two products in one for that triple action punch!  Click here for the the full review on this product!

Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara - $23.00 US

Let me start off by saying, when it comes to loving a product the price shouldn’t really matter! I have a huge collection of mascaras (I swear every promotional gimmick gets me) that in all honestly I’ve wasted so much money on. I heard about this Too Faced mascara and read countless of great reviews.  So I figured why not! It’s not too expensive, it was actually under the $30 mark.

I ordered mine from the site and the shipping was fast and the packaging was pretty amazing! When I opened my box of goodies I grabbed the mascara first; it came with a travel size too!! The wand is super pretty! It comes in a pink shade and looks like it’s made for a real make up junkie like myself.  The best part, was that the magic of this mascara was instant as soon as I applied this on my lashes.  I was instantly a satisfied customer! What I love this mascara, is that it doesn’t clump if applied correctly! Also you can go from wow to WOW by applying a second (or third) coat!! Either way it compliments any look you’re going for and a must have for even the most natural beauties!

Too Faced Shadow Insurance Primer -$20.00 US

I received this shadow insurance primer as a sample when I ordered some other make up from Too Faced.  I have never felt the need to try eye shadow primer before, but I was getting ready for my friends wedding and did not want to deal with touching up my eye make up. I tried the sample and did not need more than a dab for my eyes. This probably means this sample size will last me for a long time before I need to buy the full size tube. I found this primer to be very smooth and easy to apply. It dried quickly on my eyelids with no residue.  I applied my gold eye shadow for the wedding, and needless to say when I got home my make up looked untouched and fresh! I was impressed!!! I did not have to worry about creasing or the eye shadow wearing off like I do most of the time!! This eye shadow primer is really worth its weight in goal!

Poppy Austin Rosehip Oil - $25.25 US

I have been using Poppy Austin since the start of the year and have truly fallen in love with this company!  I love that fact that they make pure and organic products that really show a difference in results.  I started using this oil three weeks back and have been truly amazed by the results.  My skin looks brighter, hydrated, plump and refresh.  It doesn't leave an oily residual behind and absorbs quickly into the skin.  I would for sure recommend this product if you are in the market to try new oils and/or have skincare issues you are looking to correct as Rosehip oil helps to deal with hyperpigmenation, acne scars, dryness and eczema to name a few.  To read my full review on this product click here!

VoliaVe is an amazing company that I have had the privilege of working with by trying out their products the last few months! I am a total skincare junkie to the point where I am always on the look out for the next best quality product.  However throughout the years I have been greatly disappointed by a lot of high end and low end brands with their level of quality.  One thing I except from skincare companies is honesty and transparency with their ingredients on all their products.  I hate seeing companies that claim to be all natural, and yet upon a further look at their product list, you find things like alcohol, fragrances, witch hazel and fillers which really affect the health of your skin.

I particularly enjoy VoilaVe products because of their honesty and integrity to their consumers. So far all their products that I have used from them contain no alcohol, fillers, binders or fragrances (to name a new) in their bottles.  What you see and read is what you get.  Many of their products are certified organic, none are tested on animals and all their products are made in the USA.

I was recently sent a nice size bottle of their VoilaVe Triple Action Vitamin C Serum.  Now I was really curious in trying this out because I had never heard of a "triple action" vitamin C serum.  In my whole time of being a beauty blogger and learning about skincare products, I didn't really know how many different possible levels of vitamin C that existed.  Nonetheless VoliaVe was able to bottle this in one, PLUS it also contains hyaluronic acid which is awesome.  I remember thinking when I was waiting for this product in the mail "man if only it contained hyaluronic acid it would so totally rock!"  When I finally got the bottle and read the ingredients I was excited!!

This product comes in a long 1oz bottle in a pump action form which I thought was amazing.  You see, normally vitamin C comes (or should come) in the form of a dark opaque bottle with a droplet.  However the only problem with that, is that its a race against time before the vitamin C which is an antioxidant goes bad.  Normally you have about three months to use up a bottle of vitamin C before it loses it full effect.  So in this case bigger is not always better.  Antioxidants breakdown with light and air.  However VoilaVe vitamin C was packaged in a air tight pump action container with the companies logo and information wrapped around the bottle to protect it from light.  I thought this was brilliant because that meant I wasn't acting like a speed devil using useless amounts of vitamin C in order to finish it up quickly.  

The serum comes in a clear form and you honestly need only one drop for your whole face.  The pump action is very controlled so that a large amount does not dispense causing waste.  It glides on smoothly on the skin and absorbs quickly with no residue left behind.  This serum works great for those who have uneven skin tone, dryness and dull looking complexions. It helps with redness on the face and acne scars to name a few.  The hyaluronic acid helps to plump out the skin, diminish the looks of fine lines and wrinkles, and smooth out your skin.  VoilaVe also produces a Hyaluronic Acid on its own which is really worth looking into.  (Click here to read that review). 

After using this product for almost three weeks, I have to say I am totally pleased!  Everything this product claims to do it has done.  My face really feels the changes in the look and texture because of this product.  This products contains to even out my skin tone, reduce the redness around my nose and plump out my skin with a healthy looking glow!

 I have yet to end up with bad results or any allergic reaction from any of their products.  I honestly cannot say enough about this company and the amazing quality of products they put out.  I am thinking of self appointing myself as their official spokesperson in Canada! But shsss, don't tell them I said that!!  :-)

I have been using Poppy Austin products since the start of this year.  I found them all by accident while I was looking for a good Argan oil that wasn't outrageously priced.  Upon finding their website, I also noticed that they sold other great products and I for sure wanted to give them a try.  So when the company contacted me and asked me to try their Rosehip oil, I was game.  I have been dying to try Rosehip oil.  However the problem with this oil just like Argan oil is that it hard to find in its pure form.  Many companies tend to add many extra ingredients in these products that only tamper with the effectiveness of the oil.  Poppy Austin sells this oil in a pure organic form.  There is nothing added or taken away so what you buy is what you get.  Moreover, this comes in a 2oz bottle for an amazing price.

Rosehip oil has antioxidant properties which are amazing for the skin.  It helps to diminish the looks of fines lines and wrinkles. For those who suffer with hyper-pigmentation it works great as it helps to correct dark spots, uneven skin tone and dryness.  It helps to greatly reduce acne scars, stretch marks, eczema and psoriasis.

When this arrived to my house, I noticed it came in a dark opaque bottle with a droplet.  Remember this is an antioxidant so it is sensitive to light and air.  So the dark bottle design keeps it from degrading.  The oil comes out like a dark burnt orange color which is kinda cool as I have never seen that type of color in a serum before.  The oil is not too runny but not thick either.  I would say its in between which is easy to spread on your face and doesn't glide off your hands when putting some in your palm for application.  You need about 3-4 drops to use on your whole face.  

I will admit, I have been using this oil for about 3 weeks now.  I normally NEVER write a review unless I use a product for a minimum of two weeks because I believe in long term results and not instant results.  In many cases instant results fade over time.  However with longer term results you will see a differences in your skin texture and feel.

The first time I applied this was at night.  I decided in order to give this a fair chance I stopped using my Poppy Austin Argan oil and Maracuja oil (not by Tarte) and only used my Rosehip oil.  When I woke up the next morning I wasn't expecting anything different just nice moisturized skin.  However I was shocked to see my skin results.  My face looked brighter, hydrated and just all around beautiful.  My skin looked plumped and moisturized.  Yet like I said earlier,  I believe in long term results versus instant.  So three weeks later I have to say the results are still there.  This oil is truly amazing.  I use this oil twice a day.  In the morning and in the night and my skin just looks and feels great.  There is no oily feeling left behind or nasty residue.

I have to say, for the fact that I was dying to try Rosehip oil and wasn't settling for just anything really made this product worth the wait.  I would really recommend this to someone who is interested in trying oils for their skincare routine and for those looking to tackle skincare issues.
